Finn, seen as a habitual offender, had been warned by the umpires that he would be penalised after twice knocking down the bails in the first ODI in Rajkot. The umpires pointed that out to Cook, although he wasn’t sure the umpires had specifically told him that would be the case.
“Apparently we had been told that because he knocked them over twice in one of the previous games, so he was a serial offender and that he was going to get warned straight away. In the heat of the moment, I think a few of us might have forgotten that,” said Cook.
MS Dhoni, however, had no sympathy for Finn. “Yes, we were told about it (by the umpires). The easiest thing to do is to ask him not to touch the stumps. And if you do, your side may lose because of that one particular ball like what happened.”
