Over the past seven years, around 20 new bird species have been recorded and added to the bird list across 15 cities during India BirdRaces.
Some of these species include the Fairy Bluebird and Ultra-marine Flycatcher, (spotted in the Mumbai region), the Grey-necked Bunting (in Bangalore), the Indian Peafowl (in Kerala) and the Grey-headed Canary Flycatcher (in Hyderabad).

"Seasonal variations, weather factors and other disturbances sometimes scatter individual birds and small flocks. BirdRaces coincide with migratory movements, including passage migration for some species," said Sunjoy Monga, ornithologist and organiser of India BirdRace.
