India is disappointed with the US for refusing to extradite David Coleman Headley to India. Reports suggesting that US Department of Justice may seek a lighter punishment for Headley have also given rise to suspicion that he was a US double agent. “Well, it is disappointing, undoubtedly it is disappointing but we understand that they have a legal structure which has to be adhered to. We were anxious and we were wishing that the trial takes place here but it has taken place there (in US),” external affairs minister Salman Khurshid said.

Putting pressure on Pakistan, Khurshid also said there will be no closure on 26/11 unless all the plotters of the attack, including LeT founder Hafiz Saeed are brought to justice.

“Some people clearly who were involved should (also) be made accountable and brought to book. We are all convinced that there will not be any form of closure (in Mumbai case). This is a very serious matter for our country,” he said.

However, India remains hopeful of getting access to Rana, who helped Headley to carry out his recce of Mumbai targets.
