A 15-year-old boy in Bhojpur district of south-central Bihar was shot at by some molesters he had confronted when they were harassing women, and is now battling for life in hospital. Bhojpur SP MR Nayak said the victim, who was shot at on Wednesday, had taken on some drunken men on Tuesday when they were passing lewd remarks at women shopping at his uncle’s market complex. “There was a heated exchange and the men threatened the boy with dire consequences. On Wednesday, he was fired upon,” Nayak told HT.

Death for rape, murder accused
Darbhanga: A court in Darbhanga district of Bihar awarded the death sentence to a man who had abducted, raped and killed a seven-year-old girl three years ago.

The decree came on Wednesday, when the justice JS Verma committee report, which stopped short of recommending capital punishment for rapists, was released.

Boy axes father for molesting sister
Indore: A teenager axed his father to death for allegedly molesting his sister at Indore’s Bhawani Nagar colony on Thursday, said police. The boy, along with his maternal grandfather and an uncle, killed his father who used to regularly molest his 14-year-old daughter.

Woman confesses murder to avenge rape
Karnal: In a twist to a murder case, a woman confessed that to avenge her rape she had committed the murder for which her father had been held. On December 10, Joginder Singh, 30, of Bhudha Khera village of Karnal district was found seriously injured. Before his death, he had named the woman’s father for trying to kill him.
