The Sunni Dawat-e-Islami has been conducting several programmes since last week, which was the beginning of the month of Rabi ul Awwal. On Thursday, the organisation conducted an ijtema (conference) in Bhiwandi. Around 30,000 Muslims attended the function, where speakers talked about 'Prophet as a mercy to all the worlds'.
"We have been organising poetry recital competitions based on the Prophet's life in several schools, madrassas and mosques," said Maulana Rizwan Khan, vice-president, Sunni Dawat-e-Islami.
The two organisations will also visit several city hospitals to distribute sweets and food to patients.
