An Indian-origin teenager has been charged with the murder of a compatriot, a week after the mother-of-two was found mutilated on the streets of London and dying of severe head injuries.

Sher Singh, 18, a resident of Southall has been charged with the murder of Geeta Aulakh and will appear at Ealing Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Eleven other people arrested including Geeta's estranged husband, Harpreet Aulakh, are currently on bail.

Geeta, 28, a receptionist with the prominent Asian radio station Sunrise Radio, was found murdered in Greenford, west London, on November 16 when she was going to a child-minder's house to collect her two children.

A post-mortem examination found that Geeta had died from a head injury.

The Metropolitan police are trying to find out whether she was attacked elsewhere and dumped on the pavement.

According to the police, Aulakh was attacked shortly after leaving work at Sunrise Radio to pick up her two young children on Monday evening. She was found near the front door of the child-minder of her two boys, aged eight and nine.

Witnesses said she had serious head injuries and one of her hands had been cut off. She was taken to Charing Cross hospital, but was pronounced dead just over four hours later at 11.20 pm. A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as severe head injury.
