US tech shoppers are set to choose tablets above PCs and Apple above all other brands this year shows a new survey.

The latest Pricegrabber survey brings with it festive cheer for Apple and a case of 'Bah! Humbug!' for the traditional PC industry. In its survey of over 1500 US
consumers, 59 percent of respondents said that they'd rather get a tablet than a PC for holiday gift-giving.

When asked if they preferred any tablet in particular, 63 percent said they wanted a full-size iPad, with a further 24 percent preferring the iPad Mini. However, not everyone is impressed by Apple: 22 percent wanted a Samsung Galaxy Note Tab. Microsoft also got in on the action with 13 percent saying that a Surface RT was on their wish list.

When asked which device they would like solely from the 7-inch category, 45 percent plumped again for the iPad Mini, and 27 percent an Amazon Kindle Fire HD, with 19 percent hoping for a Nexus 7.

"Tablets continue to grow in popularity as a top holiday gift, especially with the emergence of lower-priced tablets targeting budget-conscience consumers. We expect to see a lot of shopping activity in the tablet category again this holiday season, with retailers battling it out to win the consumer dollar," said PriceGrabber VP Rojeh Avanesian, of the survey.
