By endorsing Modi, the BJP is putting the cart before the horse
This refers to the editorial The party has no gameplan (Our Take, December 4). By speaking in different voices on Narendra Modi’s candidature for the prime minister’s post, BJP leaders have once again showed that the party is a house divided. Instead of stepping up to the plate and resolving its internal problems, the party is diverting public attention. Not only does the party need to quell the voices of dissent within, it must also come clean on the corruption allegations levelled against its party chief Nitin Gadkari. Talking about a prime ministerial candidate at this juncture is tantamount to putting the cart before the horse.

This is not fair reporting
This refers to the report Jindal group alleges threat calls from underworld don Ravi Pujari (December 4) that carried photographs of senior advocate RK Handoo and the CEO of Zee News Ltd Alok Agarwal. While we have no issues with fair reporting on the court cases that Navin Jindal has slapped on us, is it ethical to print photographs of a senior advocate and the CEO of the company with a story that is about alleged calls that the Jindal Group is getting from an underworld don? Such reporting also gives rise to the fear that some elements in HT could be deliberately attempting to malign a well-established media group and its representatives.

Correction
In the editorial titled Keeping all options open (December 5), the name of the Chief of the Naval Staff is mistakenly mentioned as Admiral Nirmal Verma. It should be Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi. We regret the error.
