The Indo-Pak trade through the Attari-Wagah border was hot after porters working at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) here went on strike on Tuesday.

Demanding increased labour charges, the porters stopped work, largely denting the imports from the Pakistan side.

Earlier in the day, the porters also stopped exports to Pakistan by hindering movement of loaded trucks but it later resumed. However, only arrival of gypsum trucks coming from Pakistan, which do not require any manual unloading, remained smooth whereas all other items that need manpower to load/unload were affected.

The porters have been for the past few days demanding a hike in wages.

Although no official was ready to comment on the issue, sources claimed that ICP authorities and traders were working to resolve the issue.
