Police commissioner promises redressal of people's problems

Responding to the demand of residents and traders to keep a check on drug peddlers, ever-increasing traffic problem, incidents of domestic violence, snatching and eve-teasing, Amritsar police commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh, held a meeting with the representatives of various social and traders' organisations to know the pulse of the city so as to deliver the results as expected by the people and promised adequate solutions to these problems.


The representatives of various organisations, who attended the meeting, also stressed the need to revive tourism police, increased night vigil and meetings of the police advisory committee, besides strengthening the NRI Police Station.

Promising that a serious war would be launched against drugs, Aulakh stressed the need for a strong public support system in his endeavours to check the drug menace. He also promised honest and transparent police administration system with zero tolerance towards corruption.

To resolve the intricate traffic problem, the police commissioner assigned the duty of preliminary study of traffic requirement to DCP Kaustab Sharma and ACP Gaurav Behal.

He also promised revival of tourism police and said efforts are afoot in this direction. The police commissioner also promised to look into the need of setting up a police post in the vegetable market area and strengthening of police Suvidha centres.
