SGPC, Akal Takht condoles of Giani Tirlochan Singh

Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandik Committee (SGPC) chief Avtar Singh Makkar condoled the sudden demise of Takht Keshgarh Sahib Jathedar, Giani Tirlochan Singh, who passed away at Anandpur Sahib on Tuesday night following a cardiac arrest.

In a condolence message, Giani Gurbachan Singh said that Giani Tirlochan Singh always stood for high moral values and dedicated his entire life to the services of the Sikh community. His suggestions on Sikh traditions were always valued by the Jathedars of all the Sikh Takhts, he added.

" The void left by his death will be difficult to fill. I have lost a valuable companion whose advice I always valued", the jathedar said in his message.

Meanwhile Makkar in his message recalled the contributions of Giani Tirlochan Singh to the Sikh 'quam' . He was a devoted Sikh who was steadfastly associated with preaching of Sikhism and 'amrit sanchar', he said.

A condolence meeting was held at Teja Singh Samundri hall in which employees of the SGPC participated. A prayer was recited in memory of the departed soul.

The Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) also expressed grief over the demise of the jathedar. KCGC honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said that the services of jathedar Tarlochan Singh to the 'panth' (community) were priceless and it has lost one of its most respected religious leaders.

The death of Giani Tirlochan Singh was also condoled by the chief, Khalsa Dewan Charitable Society.

Giani Tirlochan Singh joined the services of the SGPC in 1974 and in 1999 he was appointed as the Head Granthi of Takht Keshgarh Sahib. In 2003 he was made the acting Jathedar of Takht Keshgarh Sahib and in the following year he was made the jathedar.
