With manufacturers jostling for space in an overcrowded PC market, Noida-based HCL Infosystems has launched a tablet computer enabled for content on education.

The MyEduTab will be linked to a Interned-based “cloud” infrastructure from which software and content can be accessed.

Around 20 educational institutes have already tied up to use HCL’s tablet as an educational device, the company said. The device runs on Android operating system and offers NCERT text books for free apart from offering educational tools such as problem-solver application, animations and texts in 2D and 3D.

“This will make the student more engaged,” said Anand Ekambaram, senior vice-president, HCL Infosystems.
