Highlight Story

Give your weekend a theatrical twist with the ongoing seventh Natsamrat Natya Utsav, which will see on stage four popular Hindi plays, today and tomorrow. Organised by the Natsamrat Theatre group, a total of eleven plays are planned to be staged at the festival.

“Our committee selected these plays after evaluating them on various grounds,” says Shyam Kumar, director of Natsamrat Theatre Group.
Today, Bobby Breaker, a comic play by writer Sresh Kawadi, will be staged at 3.30pm.

Adapted by director Geeta Sharma, the play is based on the experiences of Vishwas Joshi, a young boy who stammers. The play will be followed by another comic play called Gadhe ki Barat by Hari Bhai Vadgayokar, which will be staged at 6.30pm.

On the last day of the festival, Arvid Gaur’s popular play — Court Martial — based on life in the Army and attempting to explore various social, cultural and political issues, will be staged at 3.30pm.

“Through the play we have tried to challenge the common perception of people that life in the Army is away from such issues, but it’s not true always,” says Gaur.

The last day will also host the third Natsamrat Theatre Award ceremony, which will award theatre personalities for their contribution to theatre in the last year under seven categories.

Another highlight is the Platform Theatre daily at 6pm to 6.25pm.
