Four performances back it broke comedian Russell Peter’s record of being the most watched stand up comedy show in India. Now its being touted the biggest selling Indian comedy tour till date. Vir Das’s stand up comedy act, Walking on Broken Das, that combines with it a performance by Alien Chutney, the first ever comedy rock band and its rib-tickling and funny lyrics about life and its complications, will allure Delhiites this Sunday.

“The show is an experimental theatrical presentation that aims to take stand up comedy in a different genre,” says Ashvin Gidwani, the producer of the show. “It starts with three different comedy acts by Vir Das and then the rock band Alien Chutney takes on,” adds Gidwani.

The different characters played by Das are inspired from everyday life. As monotonous becomes fodder for laughter, life like characters such as Mystro Ravi Darsaan, British Lord Nassar Davis, and Smt Sara Samadhan, a 60-year-old resident of Punjabi Bagh, make appearances. “Stand up comedy is more about improvising on stage.

You perform according to your audiences’ response. The performance is not about mocking someone or cracking jokes, it’s about incidents we face in everyday life and the challenge is to make these funny,” says Das, who performed his first act in Amateur Night in Chicago in 2004. On 2nd May at Kamani Auditorium. There will be two back-to-back shows, 5.30 pm and 8 pm. Tickets are priced at Rs 1,000, Rs 750 and Rs 500 and can be bought at www.bookmyshow.com .
