Atelier Theatre Festival, a week of varied expressions and talent, will witness performances from 22 colleges and four professional theatre groups in Delhi from November 15 to 20. Co-sponsored by HT City, this year Atelier brings plays with a socially relevant voice. The Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, Prof. Deepak Pental, inaugurated the third Youth Theatre Week, an initiative by Atelier Theatre Society and arts marketing company, Rock Castle.
“I’m happy that the theatre movement across the campus is strong and students are lending their voices to further various social issues through this medium,” said Pental.
The opening act of the fest was Asmita Theatre Group’s Ambedkar Aur Gandhi. The festival will also witness performances by other professional groups like The Actor Factor Theatre Company and aRanya Theatre Group.
Also present was theatre person Lushin Dubey. “The students’ passion is commendable,” she said. A special part of this fest is HT City’s It is time Theater Competition which is open for all DU students. They can send in playlets/skits which encourage one to ‘pause, think afresh, and change’, as entries. The ones shortlisted will get a chance to perform at the Sri Ram Centre and will take home a cash prize.
