Connecting musical dots
What's the link between the ballads of Scottish composer Robert Burns, and Baul music from Bengal? Both influenced the music of Rabindranath Tagore. On the occasion of the Tagore's 150th anniversary, Vageeshwari Foundation, with the ministry of culture, is organising a tribute to the legend. Conceived and directed by Madhumita Ray, one of Delhi's leading Hindustani classical vocalists, the programme attempts to make Rabindra Sangeet accessible to a wider audience. The programme will trace Tagore's journey traversing genres and geographies. Tune in this Saturday to 'From Burns to Baul' - Tagore's musical journey which is part of the 150 years celebration of Tagore.
