The Arpana Art Gallery at the Siri Fort auditorium hosts several art exhibitions throughout the year. But the show of colourful canvases, titled Beyond Limits, that is underway at the venue, is a special one.
In its 11th year, this exhibition curates works of those artists who are differently-abled. This year, the exhibition showcases 100 exclusive artworks by artists with disabilities from different parts of India - right from Ladakh in the North to Tamil Nadu in the South and several other states in between.
A decade back, the show was initiated by Rajinder Johar, the founder of Family of Disabled, an organisation that seeks to extend a helping hand to families with disabled people.
"The exhibition attempts to provide a platform to 50 professionally qualified and self-taught artists to showcase their creations on the one hand, and art enthusiasts to view a plethora of artworks under the same roof," says Johar. Besides paintings, there are sculptures in bronze, aluminium and other media, that are also on display.
