We took an early walk around the Delhi Book Fair and got back everything that’s worth checking out. From books on Michael Jackson to Michelangelo to the Delhi Metro to classics and books on kidstuff and romance, here’s all that you should look out for
For music and sports buffs
Don’t miss the The Definitive Illustrated encyclopedia of Jazz and Blues and one on Rock, R995 each, at stall 10B
Trace the musical journey of MJ with a treasure book on him, Rs500, at stall 13C. Also at the same stall are books on Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones and The Official Encyclopedia of Manchester United for football fans.
For art lovers
Among the art books we fell in love with were World Art by Mike O’mahony (Hermes House, stall 10B), Raja Deen Dayal (stall 23C), and Gond Genesis at the National Book Trust stall.
Stall number 15/2/4 at the adjacent Stationery Fair in hall no. 15 offers quilling art kits (Rs600 onwards). Quilling is an art form that involves use of strips of paper to create decorative designs. Don’t miss out a mini edition of HT sitting pretty at a quill-art doll’s house there!
All the other interesting stuff
What scored was interesting kiddie decor complete with comic tiles and candies and curtains, fun astro activities, second-hand reads (Rs20 onwards) and a cartload of comics, good old Pinki and Billu included!
At the next-door Stationery Fair in Hall number 15, we spotted some cool chappal and auto-newspaper wall clocks such as these. Stall number 5-2. Worth a see!
Another eye-catcher is this book at the NBT stall, that traces a first-timer’s Metro journey in Hindi. Rs25. There are other vernacular books too.
If you’re a lover of arty pens, pencils, handmade notepads, iPad covers and such, do check out the Stationery Fair stalls.
This one’s for social drinkers who love to show off their knowledge of alcohol. ‘The Wordsworth Dictionary of Drink’ available at stall 10B is a clever pick. Combine it with the beginner’s French language kit (Rs100) and you’re a party hit!
There’s more than Mills & Boon — hot stuff is the Tarot Sutra kit (Rs200, stall 5A) and a mini Kamasutra (Rs70, stall 15A).
