Staff at a German cathedral in Cologne did not let rock star Marilyn Manson in the holy building on Wednesday, because he was putting on lipstick.
The scary rocker has revealed that he was in the city to see an exhibition of 33 of his bizarre watercolour paintings at a gallery.
He says that earlier in the day, he had gone sightseeing and decided to stroll into the holy building. He, however, bemoans that he was not allowed an entry.
Marilyn, who has been blasted by Christian groups in the States for his albums such as Antichrist Superstar, however denies that he disallowed entry because of his Satanic views.
He thinks that all that happened to him because the cathedral staff did not recognise him.
"They didn't let me in because I was wearing lipstick," the Sun quotes him as saying.
The 38-year-old star, who had a peek through the doors, admits that the cathedral was "one of the most beautiful places that I've ever seen."
His paintings include subjects like late Superman actor Christopher Reeve, and Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, who is depicted as a transsexual creature with breasts.
"Either you like them or you don't," Marilyn says.
