It’s fest time on campus. Marking the beginning of this year’s cultural fests — the annual attraction of Delhi University — was Concoction 2012, the dramatics fest of Kamala Nehru College, presented by Lakshya, the dramatics society of the college.

The three-day festival, which kicked off on Thursday, saw events such as Arc-Lights (stage play competition), Aghaz (streetplay competition) and Ideogram (Choreography competition among other activities.

“We have worked a lot for these events and each day has a new thing in store,” says Ananya Jain, 19, one of the organisers of the fest.

Day two of the fest was marked by drumbeats and slogan shouting as the 12 participating teams performed on issues such as corruption and crime. Tu Maar De Seeti, the street play by Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, was well received by the audience. Adal Khan, a member of the social welfare group Jamghat, judged the competition.

The event was followed by Ideogram, the choreography contest that saw participation from only three teams. While each team portrayed a different theme, Sri Venkateswara College, which presented Triumph Of Transforming Your Nation, was declared the winner.

“The competition was fierce. But we were confident about our piece and we came up with a completely different theme,” says Aishwarya Singh, 19, a first year student of the college.

The themes of the other two participating teams were Road to Recovery by Lady Shri Ram College for Women and The Awakening by Kamala Nehru College.

Other fun activities included Parody Making Competition and the Phata Poster Nikala Trailer round.
