Artist Preksha Lal is on an artistic high. Last week, her first solo exhibition in the Capital was inaugurated by renowned artist Satish Gujral.
“I invited him to inaugurate the exhibition, but wasn’t very sure that he will come,” says the 27-year-old artist. “He was very encouraging and even joked that if I work in Delhi, he will soon be out of business,” she adds.
A graduate from Delhi’s Lady Shri Ram College, Lal is currently pursuing her Masters in history from Lucknow University. But it is painting that keeps her busy all day long.
Her current exhibition, titled, The Buddha, is inspired by the life and teachings of Buddha. “During my childhood days, my family used to live in Banaras and we used to go on many trips to Sarnath. This is one of the reasons for my inspiration,” says the artist.
The exhibition, which closes today, has 88 pieces on display at the Open Palm Court in India Habitat Centre. The art pieces are mainly oil on canvas, but Lal has used various textures, mediums and techniques to paint this vibrant collection. The price for the art works starts at Rs 15,000.
