Forging a musical bond

It may not be music for the ears of policy hawks, but the city’s ghazal aficionados are happy. Soon after PM Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani met on the sidelines of the SAARC summit comes a concert that strengthens our shared musical legacy.

Leading the charge is Mallika-e-ghazal (Empress of Ghazals) Farida Khanum. Lending their sarod to the cause are Khan brothers Amaan and Ayan Ali. Ghazal singer Anita Singhvi, wife of Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi, will perform with Khanum.

Another big attraction of the concert, hosted by Hindustan Times and Fever 104 FM with the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, is popular Pakistani singer Ziauddin Muhhamad.

At FICCI Auditorium.

Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan and Ziauddin Muhhamad on May 3; Farida Khanum and Anita Singhvi on May 4. 7 pm onwards.
