It’s about time you put on your dancing shoes and learnt some serious salsa moves. And no, you need not look for a good dance school to teach you that. Come April 12 and Delhiites will be treated to a host of Indian and international salsa performances and special dance workshops. The second edition of the India Fiesta Latina is back, with workshops, pool parties and a packed schedule of performances. “The response we got last year was phenomenal. It won’t be an exaggeration to call it the ‘Sunburn’ of Latin dance now,” says Sunil Chopra, the organiser. Dancers from 40 countries and all over India will perform at this three-day fest. “We will not limit ourselves to just salsa and other Latin dances. Don’t be surprised if you spot elements of Bollywood, hip-hop and belly dancing in the acts,” he says.
With its ‘any body can dance salsa' motto, the festival will have salsa workshops for beginners where they will learn the dance form in the first half of the day and perform in the latter.“We will have a room dedicated to those who want to learn salsa. The emphasis will be on the dance techniques and we’ll follow the method of lead and follow. The number of people interested in salsa has now increased. It is no longer just a dance form, but a fitness technique,” says Shalu Chopra of Mundo Latino, a Latin dance school, which is supporting the fest. The line-up of international artists includes Rafael Carine, Jhonn and Milady, Nuno and Vanda, Supermario and Magna Gopal.
