'Queen of Pop' Madonna is not only riding all over the desert, she is also dressing up as a Rajasthani belle and dancing with folk artistes.
Madonna rode a horse for over 20 km from Fort Chanwa in Luni to Rohetgarh - around 30 km from Jodhpur - on Thursday. "She spent maximum time riding a horse. She seems a perfect rider and she is enjoying her trip," a source here said.
And then, "Madonna surprised everyone Thursday night by dressing up in the traditional Rajasthani attire of ghagra and choli and dancing with folk artistes. She enjoyed every bit of the evening, and it was a perfect holiday for her," sources said.
Madonna and her entourage were served dinner Thursday at the terrace of the Rohetgarh Fort facing a lake. They appeared to enjoy the mostly-vegetarian Rajasthani cuisine.
The party is expected to spend Friday night at the Sardarsamand Palace hotel, sources said.
The heritage hotel in Pali was a hunting lodge built by then-Maharaja Umaid Singh in 1933. The original features of the lodge have been left intact and its vast ground and gardens are a delight against the backdrop of the shimmering Sardarsamand Lake that teems with bird life. The exteriors and the finely crafted interiors of this art deco lodge are also impressive.
On Tuesday, Madonna had ridden over 30 km from Rohetgarh to Wilderness Camp in Khandi village.
The party is expected to return to Jodhpur Saturday, and fly to Udaipur for the last leg of the Rajasthan holiday.
The 'Material Girl', accompanied by her husband Guy Ritchie, son David Banda and some family friends, arrived in Jaipur Monday afternoon by a chartered flight from the Maldives. They are scheduled to be in Rajasthan till next Monday, sources said.
