National Award winner director Vinoo Choliparambil’s film Vitthal is about a 12-year-old boy’s anger over shaving his head after the death of his grandfather. Says Choliparambil: “Such platforms help take acclaimed films to a wider audience.”
Seema Kapur’s Haat centres on the Natha Pratha ritual which bars a woman from walking out of her marriage. The only way to do so is if the husband pays a hefty compensation. Or else she is stripped and paraded.
