After designing the amphitheatre for the Baajaa Gaajaa music festival that concluded a few weeks ago, fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee is set to start work on his much-talked-about art exhibit.
The latest news is that the artiste will showcase his creations in the city by the end of the year. “The painting exhibition is something I am currently working on. We’re just trying to frame it right. I know that I definitely don’t want to do it inside a gallery,” says Sabyasachi, adding, “I want a better place to mount the paintings. I’ll probably do it in Mehboob Studio by this winter.”
Though the space where the exhibit is to be held will be designed keeping in mind the vintage era of the likes of Greta Garbo, the designer is yet to decide who he will pay tribute to through his work. “I will be designing the venue myself. The entire set will be made inside the studio in a way to make it look like an old decadent Bohemian restaurant,” he says.
Meanwhile, the film script that Sabyasachi has been penning for a while is finally complete. “I’ve put that on the backburner for now. With business moving fast, it’s getting very tough for me to dedicate even a week to it, when I actually need seven to eight months,” he says.
