If you love animals, this one's for you. The key words are charity and golf, and here's the deal: contribute Rs 5,000 and play a round of golf in Noida.
You get grub, unlimited beer, a goody bag and — the feel-good bit — the money. All five grand goes to building an out-patient department (OPD) for stray animals at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
Organiser Anil Dev of Sports & Leisure has for the day (April 17) got the Noida golf course complimentary.
"It's net-net charity," he says.
His wife, Charu Dev, volunteers at SPCA is the driving force behind the event.
SPCA has 450 animals, including dogs, buffaloes, cows, donkeys, monkeys and pigs.
"Space isn't a problem, money is," says Dev.
"The OPD will cost Rs 6.5 Lakhs to build — two surgery rooms, an X-ray room, a waiting room, and a small loo," she says. This is exclusive of the paraphernalia needed to operate. So, if you have spare medical equipment — second hand X-ray machines, or sacks of rice, or rabies vaccines, steel patilas, and old fridge — anything, even Betadine will be welcome.
One of the main attractions of the event is the million-dollar hole -in-one, which means, if luck shines on you, and you actually mange to score a hole-in-one, you win Rs 5 lakh, and are flown to Las Vegas for the 10-million dollar hole in one.
