Tearjerker romantic novel The Notebook is set to be turned into a stage musical. The book written by Nicholas Sparks is about a young couple falling in love in 1940s.

After taking the audiences by storm with its big screen adaptation starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, it will now be turned into a stage musical.

The musical is being adapted by One Tree Hill actress Bethany Joy Galeotti and record producer Ron Aniello, reports the New York Daily News.

The producers are kickstarting the production in Wilmington, NC, with a workshop production of the new theatrical in October.

Although neither of the production's instigators have written or performed on Broadway, Galeotti recently directed her first episode of One Tree Hill and Aniello wrote music and lyrics for The Lonely, a musical based on a Twilight Zone episode.
