Eric Clapton's unplugged cover of his Derek and The Dominos hit ‘Layla’ has been voted the worst pop makeover.

Website RetroCrush.com conducted the poll and stated that the reason why ‘Layla’ had found its way to the top spot, was because it was rather like a ‘kazoo’ version of ‘Stairway to Heaven’.

"It's the equivalent of Robert Plant and Jimmy Page doing a kazoo version of 'Stairway To Heaven'," Contactmusic quoted the site, as stating.

"When I think of 'Layla', I think of a song to steal George Harrison's wife with. This version just reminds me of riding a unicorn across the rainbow bridge. And every d**k with an acoustic guitar and a camcorder has to put their take of the unplugged version of YouTube now as a result!" added editor Robert Berry.

Coming in close on Clapton’s heels was Puff Daddy’s rendition of ‘Every Breath You Take’ at second place, followed by Dolly Parton’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’ at third spot.

The top five was rounded off by Limp Bizkit’s ‘Behind Blue Eyes’ and Madonna’s ‘American Pie’ that came in at fourth and fifth place respectively.

The list for the top ten ‘Worst Pop Makeover’ as per RetroCrush.com is:

Layla (Unplugged) - Eric Clapton
