Art is a collaborative effort and talent grows when shared. This thought led to the conception of Khachaak, a first-of-its-kind photography exhibition jointly organised by the mass media students from St Xavier’s College, KC College and HR College. The three-day exhibition includes interactive workshops conducted by ace photojournalist Arko Datta and commercial photographers Ishika Mohan Motwane and Taras Taraporevala.

The initiative is an effort to bridge the gap between industry experts and the students.Khachaak features around 120 photographs divided under two sections, individual frames and photo stories. Datta’s workshop will deal with the basics of photojournalism, while Motwane and Taraporevala will talk about film photography and fashion photography respectively. There will also be various creative installations on display made by students, along with a section showcasing designer Vidhi Shah’s ensembles. Attendees can order the works as well as customised photo artefacts, like pillow covers and lanterns.

Each print is priced at Rs 1,500.“I was delighted to see the students break out and think outside their comfort zone with their topics, whether it’s the story of a family living on railway tracks or the universal language of smiles. As a photographer, I am inspired and know that the future of photography is in very talented hands,” says Tunali Mukherjee, curator, Khachaak.

The exhibition, Khachaak, is on from April 12 to 14, at Ave 29, Kohinoor Mansion, Hughes Road, Cumballa Hill. The exhibition and workshops are open to all.
