City based photographer-architect Nakul Vengsarkar (and son of former cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar) is showing his recent work in the city. Titled Yatri (traveller), the ongoing exhibition features pictures from the artist’s travels across the country.

“The display is a spiritual enunciation. I have travelled from the north to the south to cover the Maha Kumbh Mela, and the Mylara and Yellamma yatras (journeys). The pictures have been clicked in a way that they look like paintings,” says Vengsarkar.

The exhibition features 20 pictures that portray the cultural differences between yatras. “At the Kumbh, there were men covered in ash and women dressed in vibrant saris. So, one of my works reflects upon the contrast between the two,” says Vengsarkar.

While his earlier exhibition was an artiste’s view of Mumbai streets, Vengsarkar decided to take the spiritual route with this one.

“India is the epicentre of spirituality. I always wanted to explore this side of my country and its mysteries. This exhibition is a documentation of my soul-searching journey that makes me a yatri,” he says.

The exhibition is on till September 10, at Gallery Art And Soul, Worli, from 10.30 am to 7 pm.
