Bollywood masala brought live on stage will be a treat not only for theatre lovers but also for those who eat, breathe and dream hindi movies. A comedy play called What The Luck Yaar that will be shown in the city will have all the elements of theatre and Bollywood woven together.
“This play is more like a Bollywood musical and is actually like a film on stage. There will be actual Hindi movie tracks that will be played and dancers will come of the stage and dance. The entire play has drama, romance, horror and even action in it,” says Khurafati Nitin, director of the play who is also an RJ with Fever 104 FM .
“It’s a hinglish play and it is the language that the people in this city understand. The play revolves around 3 women protagonist. The play shows that how luck is such a gray area. Most of us believe in luck, be it tarot reading or seeing what your luck would bring tomorrow, in the newspapers. This story about you and me and revolves around three main characters. One believes in Luck, one doesn’t and the third is a victim of luck. The story comically tells us where to draw the line when it comes to relying on your Luck,” he says.
Even the play’s posters are different from a regular theatre production poster. A music CD of the songs that will be played on the stage will be released and it will be up for sale.
“What is more exciting is that except for me, all the actors are first timers who were trained for a period of 6 months by us to make their debut on stage with this play,” says Nitin.
Special attention has been paid to the choreography, which forms an integral part of this production.
“The choreography is a mixture of hip hop and Bollywood fusion which has never been done before. It has the typical filmy numbers of actors such as Salman Khan and people dancing to them. Everybody has worked hard on it and if you see the play you will see that these people who are a part of it don't look like first timers at all,” says Raul Brady who has choreographed the play.
