Angels in the air today

After dreamy showers, the city’s set for a whiff of French romanticism. Delhi is in for a majestic visual treat at the show — Flying Angels (Place des Anges), being performed as part of the closing ceremony of Bonjour India Festival this evening. Trained French acrobats in pristine white costumes will come flying through the sky to perform awe-inspiring, gravity defying trapeze acts on a rope. The show depicts the story of an artist who aspires to fly away to heaven. “We wanted to bring a message of peace, love and hope through this performance,” says Stéphane Girard, co-director of the show. “The audience will be an active participant in this show as it gets to juggle, dance and play along with the performers,” he adds.
The show will have a troupe of 30 acrobats from the 15-year -old French circus, Les Studios Cirque, performing for more than one hour on the Indian stage first time ever. “The entire stage will have a very dreamy, romantic look — totally French with a lot of feathers, flakes and artificial snow,” he says.
