8 rallies, 5 hours: Stalin leads DMK's poll campaign in Chennai

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) treasurer MK Stalin was ready to lead the party’s charge on Wednesday with eight rallies planned in Chennai over five hours.

The DMK has allied with the Congress party for the upcoming assembly elections. Tamil Nadu will go to the polls on May 16.

Stalin began his campaign at 4:00 pm in the affluent district of Mylapore, before heading to his former stronghold of Thousand Lights, from where  he has successfully contested from four times.

He will not be campaigning in his declared constituency, Kolathur, for the 2016 polls, as the rallies are aimed at promoting the DMK's local candidates in their respective areas.

The former deputy chief minister will be in T Nagar at 5:00 pm, followed by Saidapet, Virugumbakkam, Alandur, and Velachery, before ending at Shollinganalur at 9:00 pm.
