Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah skipped election campaign in Himachal Pradesh on Friday, due to rescheduling in his programme.
Shah was in Gujarat on Friday, and is set to launch the poll campaign on Saturday.
State BJP media incharge Hemanshu Misra said Shah was scheduled to address rallies at Jaisinghpur in Kangra district and Gagret in Una. “However, there was a rescheduling in his programme as he had to go to Gujarat,” said Misra, adding that it was impossible for him to address rallies in Himachal on Friday.
Meanwhile, Misra said, “Union information and broadcasting minister Smriti Irani took his place and has reached Jasinghpur to address the first rally.”
Shah hit campaign trail in Himachal on October 30 and addressed six rallies in three days.
The BJP president was in Karanataka on Thursday where he flagged off the ‘Nava Karnataka Nirmana Parivarthana’ rally, a 75-day tour across Karnataka led by its state president BS Yeddyurappa, kicking off the party’s campaign for the assembly elections due in 2018.
“Shah will rejoin Himachal campaign either on Sunday or Monday,” Misra added.
Shah is scheduled to address two rallies at Rampur in Shimla and Doon in Solan on November 6.
