In the ad, Samajwadi Party depicts a running metro train, which BJP claims was given financial assistance by the Centre.

The BJP on Monday moved the Election Commission against an advertisement of the Samajwadi Party, which depicts a running metro train, claiming that the Centre has given financial assistance for the metro rail project in Uttar Pradesh.

In the complaint sent to the CEC, state BJP vice-president JPS Rathore said, “The SP is indulging in false propaganda by showing that a metro train is moving (in one of the advertisements). This is cosmetic development.”

The BJP claimed that the Centre has given financial assistance for the metro rail project but the SP is listing it as its own achievement. “The SP is befooling people of the state and trying to hijack their votes,” Rathore said in his complaint.

The party also asked the EC to ensure immediate removal of the portion of the advertisement that shows moving metro train.
