A day after senior CPI (M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan fired shots at him, 92-year-old VS Achuthanandan urged party men to practice restraint and not give unnecessary ammunition to their opponents in poll-bound Kerala.

Pinarayi had said a resolution passed against VS last year during a party meet, in which he was dubbed ‘a factionalist with anti-party mindset’, was still relevant.

VS in his Facebook said, “Though Pinarayi had said his words were twisted they gave enough ammunition to our opponents. Some of them even said I should not contest. All leaders should avoid unnecessary controversies at this juncture.”
