Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Mamata Banerjee and J Jayalalithaa, chief ministers of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu respectively, on their victories in the assembly elections.

The PM took to Twitter to convey his wishes to the chiefs of Trinamool Congress and AIADMK as well as Sarbananda Sonowal, the Bharatiya Janata Party chief ministerial candidate for Assam.

West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress and Tamil Nadu’s ruling AIADMK were set to retain power while the BJP was on the road to victory in Assam and the Left made a comeback in Kerala, trends of the assembly poll results showed.

Congratulating Sonowal, the PM said BJP will do everything possible to fulfil dreams of the people of Assam.

Modi also thanked BJP workers in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu and said assured people of the states where elections were held that the Centre will work hard and serve them.

Modi said that across India , people are placing their faith in BJP and see it as the party that can usher in all-round and inclusive development.
