Antony launches Coastal Radar Surveillance System

Taking a lesson from the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Defence Minister, A K Antony today launched the real time coastal radar surveillance sensors to make the 7,500 kilometre Indian coastline impenetrable. A total of 46 sensors will be installed in the first phase of the project, while 38 more will be installed in phase two. Addressing media persons in Mumbai, Antony said that following 26/11 attacks India expedited the process of installing these sensors. The defence minister added that the western coastal states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and others should coordinate their efforts to tackle matter of national security.
