Children in Uttarakhand plant saplings

Large numbers of school children gathered in Uttarakhand on Saturday (August 03) and planted saplings as a mark of tribute to thousands who lost their lives in the devastating floods, which ravaged the Himalayan state couple of months back. In Dehradun, school children, along with some residents of the area came together to plant saplings to spread the message of afforestation, which said ‘plant trees, save mountains.' It was officially declared on July 15 that nearly 6,000 people were missing a month after flash floods ravaged large parts of Uttarakhand, but stopped short of saying they were presumed dead.
