Hanging of Kasab stirs anger in Pakistan

Updated: November 23, 2012 14:11 IST

The execution of Mohammad Ajmal Kasab, lone survivor of the militant squad responsible for a rampage through Mumbai that killed 166 people in 2008, has whipped anger in Pakistan, a gesture which may hurt relations between the neighbours, a Pakistani analyst Agha Masood Hussain said. Hussain, who has authored books on Pakistan-India relations, said that Kasab’s hanging may harm people to people contact. In Pakistan, many said the hanging happened quickly only because of his nationality. People questioned whether Kasab was really guilty, despite the video evidence.
