Acting with brazen impunity, the Maoists have gunned down a member of a village council at Kesapur hamlet in Simdega district of Jharkhand. This tragic incident took place in broad daylight, right in the presence of the slain person's son. Reportedly, the victim Agastaya Khadiya was about to leave his house with his son, when three members of the banned
People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) confronted him and started to argue with him. The ultras then aimed their weapons on Khadiya, who made a run, along with his son. The Maoists fired their weapons on the village council member and he later succumbed to his injuries. Hundreds of people lose their life in the violence, perpetrated by the rebels as well as security forces in counter insurgency operations.
