Naxals obstruct electrification project in Jharkhand
ANI | June 28 , 2013
Naxals in Jharkhand continue to stall developmental projects undertaken by the government. Recently it was found out that Naxals have stopped village electrification projects in four districts of the state. The extremists have stalled electrification projects in Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra and Latehar districts of Jharkhand, and this has affected around 3,000 villages. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Electrification Scheme, the Jharkhand state administration has received Rs 3,000 crore. The project work was on in full swing but a diktat issued by the rebels compelled contractors to stop midway. It is also alleged that Naxals are demanding extortion money from contractors. These acts by the Naxals have resulted in huge monetary losses to the government and inconvenience to the people.
