Pakistan plane crash

A car bomb exploded in central Baghdad on Sunday, killing two civilians and wounding four others. The car was parked metres away from a factory manufacturing car batteries in the Karrada neighbourhood. The attack happens a day after an al-Qaeda-linked group posted a video on the Internet showing the execution of 18 policemen kidnapped in the Diyala province on Saturday.

As U.S. and Iraqi forces extended a major security crackdown into a key Shiite militia haven in northeast Baghdad, the blast on Mutanabi Street was a challenge to Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki who has vowed to deal evenly with Sunni Arab insurgents and Shiite militias.

Pakistan home minister Rehman Malik today said that the agreement on a new visa regime with India would not be signed, but would be concluded at the political level. Speaking on the fact that India was insisting that Jamaat-ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed was the mastermind behind the Mumbai attacks, Rehman replied that Pakistani authorities would examine the new evidence against Saeed.
