I have a budget of Rs 10 lakh for a new car. I want a diesel-engined car that is classy, high on fuel economy, and comfortable. I have shortlisted the new Hyundai Verna Transform and Ford Fiesta. Which one should I go for and what are the discounts going on both cars?
Both the Verna and Fiesta are good cars. You can get some good deals on them ranging from cash discounts and freebies thrown in, resulting in savings ranging from Rs 20,000 to 30,000 depending on how well you negotiate.
However, there are some better options available too. The Fiat Linea is an excellent choice and bigger and better than its rivals. However, the car everyone is waiting for is the new Volkswagen Vento which promises to be the class leader with its generous rear seat space, strong engines and premium feel.
If you can stretch your budget to around Rs 12 lakh, then the new Toyota Corolla Altis diesel will best suit your requirements of economy and class.
I have a Ford Ikon 1.6 NXT and want to replace it with a brand new car, either in petrol or diesel. My prioritiesare aggressive looks and brilliant performance. I am unable to choose between the Fiat Linea Multijet or the Honda City 1.5 V. Please advise.
The Fiat Multi-jet diesel simply won’t have the performance of a powerful petrol car. One option is to wait for the Linea T-jet which uses a turbo-charged petrol engine developing a healthy 118 bhp.
However, the T-jet is still a month or two away. The Honda City with its superb 1.5-litre engine is still the best for performance and the arrow-shaped styling is quite aggressive too. Throw in the terrific reliability Hondas are known for and the City is the best choice for you.
I have the new model Honda City. I plan to replace the steel wheels with Oz alloy wheels. Are there any authorised dealers in India, especially in South India?
