Utility vehicle major Mahindra & Mahindra on Tuesday said it would launch 8 to 10 new products by the end of March 2012 including a premium sports utility vehicle (SUV). The SUV, developed on a new platform in the Rs 14-16 lakh price range, would be the firm’s most expensive vehicle till date.
“From this year to the end of March 2012, there will be a slew of products launched across passenger and commercial vehicles segments,” said Pawan Goenka, president, automotive sector, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M). “With the new SUV, we will be moving up the chain and it will be more premium than the Scorpio or Innova. It will have a monocoque (single shell) body, which will be a first in India.”
The company will also bring in atleast 2 vehicles — the Korando C and Rexton — from newly-acquired South Korean firm Ssangyong Motor Company by December.
“The vehicles are here and we are testing them,” Goenka said. “We will import parts and assemble them at our Chakan plant.”
