The winner of the second edition of the Maruti Suzuki-Autocar Young Driver 2010 contest was announced on Monday. Sumit Kukreja from Faridabad, Haryana beat 30 other competitors from across the country in the final round to walk away with a Maruti A-Star for a grand prize.
The contest is a nationwide search for India’s best young driving talent. The competition tested drivers’ knowledge of traffic rules, road safety and their driving skills. The two-month long contest — held across 22 cities — was open to everyone, between the age of 18 and 30 years, with a valid driving license. The Young Driver 2010 contest, which was held in three phases, included an online theory test on traffic rules, awareness of road safety, and knowledge of cars. The website (www.youngdriver.in) clocked a staggering 20,400 online tests.
