The new BMW 1-series sedan has been spotted testing on international roads. This confirms rumours of a Bimmer rivaling the likes of the recently launched Audi A3 and the upcoming Mercedes CLA.

Some design elements that come across on the test mule the sloping roofline, a high trunk, fin-like antenna and dual exhaust system. As is typical of BMW, the mule has a long hood. Overall dimensions are likely to be that of a luxury compact sedan.
The car will be based on the same UKL platform as the 1-series hatchback; and is likely to carry over the engine line-up as well when it comes to Indian markets. There are two engine options; a 1.6-litre turbo petrol that puts out 136bhp and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel with a power output of 143bhp. Both engines are coupled with a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox.
