Automobile lubricant maker Castrol India on Thursday said that it has struck a two-year long brand endorsement deal with cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for an undisclosed amount.
Tendulkar joins the list of Castrol brand ambassadors that includes high profile names in the field of sports such as footballers Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham, along with cricketers Rahul Dravid and Adam Gilchrist, Castrol India said in a statement.
As Castrol’s brand ambassador, Sachin will be the face of the company's cricket initiatives and promote brands such as Castrol Power1, Activ and GTX.
"I am very passionate about motorsport with which Castrol has been associated for over a century. So to me, this partnership seems to be the perfect fit," Tendulkar said.
Recently, Pune-based property developer, Amit Enterprises Housing had also roped in him as its brand ambassador.
Tendulkar's brand associations are managed by World Sport Group. The 37-year-old right-handed batsman currently endorses a host of brands and companies, including Toshiba, ITC, Boost, Canon, RBS, Reynolds, Jaypee Cements and Aviva.
As per industry estimates, Tendulkar charges about Rs 5 crore per endorsement.
Speculations are rife that leading beverage maker Coca Cola is also likely to sign up the master blaster ahead of the upcoming ICC World Cup.
