The electric version of Mahindra's entry level sedan, Verito, will hit the market in two years while electric options of its light trucks and utility vehicles are under development, Chetan Maini, chief technology officer, Mahindra Reva, told HT.

Mahindra Reva is the electric car manufacturer from the stable of the $15.4 billion (around R85,431.5 crore) conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M).

Reva, ever since it came to Mahindra fold two years ago, started working on 'electrifying' M&M's portfolio of vehicles. M&M had showcased the electric Verito at the Delhi Auto Expo early this year.

Regarding the development of electric options of other M&M vehicles, he said, "We have proved that electric versions of utility vehicles Bolero and Scorpio are technologically feasible. We have developed electric options of light trucks Maxximo and Geo."

Maini, who founded Reva and currently holds 18% stake in it, said the company wanted adequate charging stations and favourable markets before launching battery-run light trucks.
